Dear Rene: from “Network Marketing Lifestyles Magazine”
A question that inevitably comes up is, “Across the board, how much money do network marketers really make?” The implication is that if you average the income of all representatives around the world, the earnings that we can truly demonstrate are miniscule. How would you respond to this?
Let’s step back and look at the big picture. What is attracting so many people to our industry? After years in this business, it has become evident to me that money is not the primary reason that the vast majority of people join network marketing. Like no other industry I know, it puts people in touch with other people building on relationships. It develops their people skills, draws out their communication and leadership qualities, and sets them on a journey of personal growth. Most network marketers stay with the business long-term because they love their products, like buying them at wholesale, and feel a sense of belonging as they advance in their own quest to become a better person.
The majority are not serious business people, but consumers: people who hope to make some extra pocket change (perhaps a few hundred dollars a month) while sharing their products with a few close family and friends. For these people, networking carries the professional status of a hobby. There is nothing wrong with that – indeed, it is a wonderful aspect of our business that this level of participation is available. But it doesn’t make sense to include the results these folks are generating when answering the question, “How much money do network marketers really earn?”
A much smaller percentage are those who work the business part-time, making a serious effort to build an organization; these folks might create an income of a few thousand dollars a month. What is exciting to me is that the new emerging form of technology-based network marketing is positioned to help millions of people achieve and sustain these smaller levels of income. For those who aspire to greater wealth and are wiling to put forth concerted, consistent effort, there is no limit to the revenue stream that can be produced. The highest earners, as in any industry, represent something on the order of one percent. With projections suggesting that we will see an additional 200 million new representatives joining our ranks over the next decade, that one percent could represent another two million or more top earners around the world. If we average the income of the second and third categories, part-time and full-time serious business builders, the income potential is clearly exciting.

If leadership can only exist when people are willing to follow, we must be asking ourselves, “Why would someone want to follow me?” And the answer is, “Because you’re doing the 1/2 dozen things…”
Daily Activity
1) Using your personal success planner, focus on your goals for 15 minutes each day! 2) Listen to 30 minutes of an audiotape every day! Remember…Prospecting – find ‘em. Presentation – enroll ‘em. And Duplication – turn ‘em into leaders who can do the same. Focus on one area of growth monthly.
3) Read ten pages of a good book every day. Remember if you can read and you do not, you are illiterate by choice! The Nexera.com “Your Library” link offers a great selection.
4) Expose two new prospects every working day – using a system anyone can duplicate – videoa, audios, two-on-one, conference calls or a live meeting. Follow-up with your prospects…Using your personal success planner system.
5) Follow-through with your consultants – those you’ve selected as potential leaders. Talk with them weekly for the first year. At meetings or on conference calls and invest quality time one-on-one. Because this business is not about getting them in, it’s about keeping them in. And they’re not “in” until they’re involved.
You do not need to work everyday – but on the days you do work, these are the 1/2 dozen things you must find a way to accomplish. Remember: Easy to do! Easy not to do!
For the next 90 days experience success by doing the 1/2 dozen things every day, and watch your business multiply.
